We are so grateful that MN State Auditor Rebecca Otto will be rejoining us this year at the podium!
Rebecca is currently serving in her third term as Minnesota State Auditor. As State Auditor, Rebecca oversees $20 billion spent annually by local governments and watches over the state’s $85 billion investment fund. She serves on six state boards, including the Rural Finance Authority, the Land Exchange Board, the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, the Minnesota State Board of Investment, the Public Employees Retirement Association of Minnesota and the Minnesota Executive Board. Rebecca was first elected as State Auditor in 2006.
Rebecca previously served as a State Representative in the Stillwater area. Prior to her election to the legislature, Rebecca served on the Forest Lake School Board and chaired a successful $52 million school levy campaign.
Rebecca has a Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota and taught seventh grade life science for 5 years in the Mounds View public schools. She was a proud card-carrying member of the teachers union Education Minnesota. Before she was a teacher, Rebecca started and grew a 50-employee painting, decorating, and historic restoration small business, and later sold it.
Rebecca is running for Governor to end the politics of greed and restore the politics of the common good. She has released a 5-part agenda called Renew Minnesota. It includes creating 250,000 clean energy jobs; establishing a universal single payer healthcare system; raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour; and providing two years of college or vocational training through the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
Rebecca lives on a small farm in May Township in a renewable energy-powered home she and her husband Shawn built with their own hands.
